After much teasing from Blizzard, the next two heroes have been announced for Heroes of the Storm. The first one coming to the Nexus will be the infamous Orc warlock, Gul’dan. Those of you who have seen the Warcraft movie or are fans of the universe already know who this character is. For those of you that are a little less familiar with him; he is the warlock responsible for bringing the Orcs from their homeworld of Draenor to Azeroth and used Fel magic to incite war and spread the influence of the burning legion. Suffice it to say that he is a straight up unfavorable dude (does that term apply for Orcs?). Although it has not yet been confirmed it seems that he will be a Ranged Assassin hero, based off of some of his skills that we can see in the teaser video.
The second hero to be announced was Auriel, from the Diablo universe. She is the Archangel of Hope and a member of the Angiris Council—basically on the far end of the spectrum from Gul’dan. It has been confirmed that she will be a support hero by Blizzard themselves (SO EXCITED). As a support player this makes me incredibly happy as there is a huge need for more supports in the game and with a lot of the community discussion focused around making supports feel more important, Auriel represents a huge opportunity for fans. Community manager, Trikslyr, himself has said that she has a lot of playmaking potential which is even more exciting!
Along with these two heroes, several new mounts and skins for heroes were announced. These can all be seen in the In Development video below. As more details come out about these heroes, I’ll be covering it and doing my best to offer insight as to how these new heroes might shape the Heroes of The Storm meta in the coming months.
